Hi, I'm Mel!!

Hi, my name is Mel and I am very new to all of this!! This is my first forum I have ever joined, it is all so exciting!!

Hmm.. Little bit about me... I am an Interpreter of the Deaf working in a Primary school in Perth. I have always had an interest in photography, but never took it further, unfortunately!! About 9 years ago I bought my first SLR camera (Canon EOS 500N) and started a course through The Australian College of Journalism. It was through correspondence & I found this a bit boring. It wasn't what I thought it would be and I didn't learn enough with the camera, so I quit.

Just before Xmas I decided to get a new digital camera so I bought a DSLR - Canon EOS 400D with 18-55mm & 75-300mm lenses. I recently went to my cousins wedding and I found it hard shooting in the sun, so I bought a rubber lens hood. At the reception I found I have this great camera, but not enough light!! So my next purchase was my Canon Speedlite 580EX 11 which I love!! Still learning how to use it, but Im getting there!! Umm.. Also have a CIR- Polarizing filter and want to get a UV filter soon. In June, a friend and I are doing a 4.5 hr workshop (SLR & Manual DigiCam Workshop) with Plaza Camera’s. I am really looking forward to it!!

I am thinking of starting a photography blog sometime in the near future so when it is up and running, I will post it for your valuable advice!!
